News from Amigo!

We are so happy to report that Amigo, our beloved school horse, is settling in just fine at his new home in Athens, Georgia, with his owner, trainer and caregiver, Molly Larson. Molly, a 99′ Fair Acres graduate, tells us Amigo is loving the warm weather, enjoying the Southern hospitality and making new friends everyday!

Molly made the decision to bring Amigo to Georgia last September to be with her, as she was completing her three-year residency specializing in Internal Equine Medicine. Molly recently graduated from the UPenn Veterinarian program, and after completing an internship in Kentucky, she moved to Athens, where she now resides with her fiancé, Dan Adams (veterinarian surgeon), their dogs, Luke, and three-legged Golden Retriever, Lefty (pictured below).

All are doing well and we look forward to their safe return to Fair Acres someday soon!

Welcoming Spring with Eric Carle!

There’s no better way to welcome Spring than by immersing ourselves in a unit about the beloved children’s book author, Eric Carle! Besides being beautiful and entertaining, his books always offer children the opportunity to learn something about the world around them.

Some of the titles our students have been enjoying, include:

  • The Tiny Seed
  • The Little Cloud
  • The Hungry Caterpillar
  • A House for Hermit Crab

In addition to reading his stories, our students have also been participating in numerous activities inspired by Carle’s loveable characters and vibrant illustrations, even growing their own peas from seeds!

Our teachers have been proudly displaying their students’ colorful renditions of Carle’s illustrations, which they used an array of mediums to create.

We hope you enjoy the sampling below!

State-of-the-Art REME Air Purification System Installed in Every Classroom!

As COVID-19 continues to surge through the U.S., Fair Acres continues to make the health and safety of our students and staff our number one priority. Fair Acres has gone over and above the CDC, EEC, and state requirements by implementing extensive protocols for facility cleaning, personal hygiene and social distancing. We have also remodeled our classrooms to ensure smaller, isolated classes as well as redesigned our curriculum to include extensive outdoor learning with our new educational PODS.

The pandemic has brought many changes to our lives and we would like to acknowledge the support, generosity, and willingness to adapt by all our Fair Acres Families. Truly it has been a total team effort to get to where we are today. With that said, I would like to thank our newest member of the Fair Acres Family, Alex and Adrianna Braga for their generous donation. During Thanksgiving break, Braga Bros Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning teamed up with Fair Acres to install three state of the art REME Generator Advanced Oxidation Systems throughout our school. With this air purification system, micro-organisms can be reduced by over 99%! Gases, VOCS, odors and dust will also be reduced via charged Advanced Oxidation Plasma carried throughout each classroom for a continuous purification process. This along with our Evaclean Protexus Electrostatic sprayer gives us the edge on fighting COVID-19, influenza, and the common cold!

Once again, thank you Braga family and all our Fair Acres Families for your continued support. I know I speak for our entire team when I say we will continue to work hard to ensure a positive experience for all during these unique times.

Stay positive and be heathy!

Curt and Jodi

Adios Amigo!

At the end of October, the Fair Acres family said “goodbye” to our beloved horse, Amigo. Embarking on an exciting adventure, Amigo traveled down to Georgia, where he was reunited with Miss Molly (Curt and Jodi’s daughter) and the staff at his new home.

Amigo came to Fair Acres and joined the Larson family 12 years ago. Molly, who was a Junior in high school at the time, welcomed Amigo with love and excitement. Her passion for animals, especially horses, led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Molly completed her veterinary studies recently at the University of Pennsylvania, and is now in Athens, Georgia doing a three-year residency in Internal Equine medicine. A 1998 graduate of Fair Acres, we knew Molly would go on to do amazing things! Realizing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, Molly felt it was time to have Amigo with her on a full-time basis again.

Over the years, Amigo has brought the Fair Acres Family so much happiness and joy. From visiting him at his barn, to feeding him apples picked form our apple trees, to observing his veterinary check-ups, and watching Miss Jodi interact with him in his arena – we will never forget the memories that we have all made with Amigo.

Although we will miss our friend Amigo, we are so happy that he is enjoying his new home and we wish him all the best!
