Fair Acres Summer Day Camp | Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

The Fair Acres Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is a unique leadership opportunity designed for young adults entering 8th or 9th grade who are ready to take the next step in their camp journey! The program was created as a “level up” for our oldest former campers, this program offers a meaningful introduction to what it takes to be a camp counselor, while still keeping good ole camp fun at its core. CITs will work alongside our experienced lead CIT Director to support daily camp activities, assist with supervision, and serve as positive role models for younger campers. Participants gain valuable experience while building confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills! What CITs Gain Leadership and responsibility in a supportive environment Hands-on experience working with children of different ages Growth in teamwork, communication, and flexibility Increased confidence and independence Mentorship from experienced Fair Acres staff Eligibility & Application Open to students entering 8th or 9th grade Selection is competitive and based on maturity, responsibility, and interest in working with children Fair Acres is seeking CITs who are willing to commit to the full 7-week summer program, as the experience builds week-to-week. However, all interested candidates are encouraged to apply. This program is an exciting opportunity for motivated teens to grow as leaders, give back to the camp community, and take the first step toward becoming a Fair Acres counselor!!.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can we still apply if we are not able to commit to the full 7 weeks?
    • Yes! We encourage you to apply. We understand that a full summer commitment can feel like a lot. That said, the program is designed around an accumulation of skills and training, so priority will be given to CITs who are able to commit to the full 7 weeks. We know summer schedules can get busy, so please still submit an application.
  • What is the cost breakdown for the program?
    • The full 7-week commitment is $3,675, which breaks down to $525 per week.
    • If your CIT is unable to commit to the full 7 weeks, the cost will remain $525 per week, based on the number of weeks attended.
  • When will payments be due for the full summer commitment?
